There comes a time when professionals of all kinds – from entrepreneurs to artists, managers to employees at every level – will need to take, retake, or renovate their headshots. Professional headshots are frequently used for social media profiles, personal websites, speaking engagements, resumes, security tags, and all manner of marketing materials.

A professional headshot lends a level of credibility, professionalism, and polish that the homemade snapshot simply fails to deliver. Rather than standing against a bare wall in the living room and asking your son or daughter to “do their best,” I recommend all my clients seek out a professional photographer, even if it’s only for a mini session. That’s why Michelle, and so many other parents, give me a call when it’s time to update their look. In practically no time at all, I work to capture my clients’ zest – the spark, the aliveness.

I had the pleasure of photographing Michelle and her family five years ago, when her son was less than a year old. So when she contacted me for a professional headshot mini shoot in October, I was more than eager to help her out and create some great looks for her career.

Michelle and I met up at her office on K Street, in downtown Washington DC. Our first stop was the conference room, an ample space with a full wall of windows that provided plenty of natural light for us to play with. Then we stepped outside and did several shots in the alleyway to provide an urban feel and wandered into a nearby park to take advantage of the season’s greenery and soft natural edge.

Creating professional headshots is an additional service that I offer to parents who I know from family photo sessions. In fact, so many parents have requested headshots and professional profile pictures that I created a mini-session package to cater to this need.

As for Michelle, I greatly enjoyed seeing her again and getting reacquainted after all these years. She’s a mama with a mission and I’m confident that these headshots will support her professional goals.
