Next up in the “great blog update” is Anna with an amazing, huge, happy smile.

I’m finally back online after a power surge blew out my internet during the crazy thunderstorms last weekend. Sophia’s parents have been waiting patiently to see their sneak peek, so without any further ado, here she is! Enjoy!

My fourth (but hopefully not last) session with Tyler at both the Jefferson Memorial and at Meridian Hill Park. Check out how he’s grown from the first to the second to the third session. It’s been really nice being able to photograph Tyler and his family several times over the past 14 months, seeing the changes, and really getting to know them all. Looking forward to designing their album to commemorate the first (or so) year.

I photographed Aven and family for the first time one week shy of exactly one year ago. It was great seeing the transformation from little baby to little girl (toddler?). She was on the move throughout the whole session, but slowed down just enough to “smell the flowers,” or more like pull petals off of flowers, in her family’s beautiful garden. Luckily, there was such an abundance of beautiful flowers that I don’t think the petal pulling will be discernible. I hope.

I looked up the meaning of the name Sowmya. If my sources are accurate (Wikipedia?):
It stems from the Sanskrit word which means, “gentle, soft.”
It is one of the 108 Sanskrit names of the Hindu Goddess Durga Devi.
It also stems from the Hindu word which means, “Beautiful.”
It also stems from the Tamil/Sanskrit word which means, “Peace”.
It also stems from the word which means, “something special”
That pretty much sums her up! Though she does have a feisty side

I’m so excited about the results of my third session with Tyler. Mom had one traditional holiday outfit and one very hip outfit for him, which provided some nice contrast for the images. It was fun to see him with even more personality and longer hair and walking and climbing with more confidence. Thankfully he’s not yet running too fast for me! Take a look back at our first and second sessions to see how much he’s grown. Looking forward to our fourth session in a few months.

Holiday mini-sessions were quite a whirlwind. It’s always a little thrill to see some of the same kids from previous sessions when, at this stage of their lives, even a few months makes a huge difference in their development. Thankfully the weather cooperated, which is always a big risk with outdoor sessions at this time of year. The one frustrating thing about mini-sessions was limiting my time with each family to only 30 minutes. I wish I could have spent more time with everyone!

I have known Christopher for about a year and half now. He’s one of the kids that frequents all the same spots as my son and I: Stead Park, Westminster Park, and the Daniel T. Watha Library. I’ve become friendly with Christopher’s fantastic nanny Danielle over the many months of running into each other around the neighborhood. I even had the occasion to attend a playgroup at Christopher’s house. But until our photo session together, I’d never had the pleasure of meeting his parents. We spent the morning hanging out around the block where they live, braving the early heat of the day – thankfully before it got too unbearable, to capture images of the energetic little guy. It was nice to be able to finally put faces to names and see the whole family together after watching Christopher sprout up into a little boy these past several months.

Freeman is one of the more active little boys I’ve had the pleasure of photographing recently. He was thoroughly enjoying his newfound walking (and running) skills throughout our entire session and gave me a good workout in the process. Thanks to his parents for running around with him to help me get these images!
