I’m finally back online after a power surge blew out my internet during the crazy thunderstorms last weekend. Sophia’s parents have been waiting patiently to see their sneak peek, so without any further ado, here she is! Enjoy!

My most recent newborn session was with baby Chloe and family. She barely opened her eyes the whole time I was with her, even with exuberant big brother Carson and big sister Camryn right by her side. I was extremely impressed with how calm and collected mom Carese was from the moment I arrived, juggling having all three kids at home for the group photos at the beginning and then getting the older two off to school and a play date without seeming the slightest bit frazzled. It was great meeting you all!

I first photographed Vivienne just about one year ago when she was only a couple weeks old . She still has the same look, but her gorgeous huge brown eyes are brimming with personality now. Happy birthday Vivienne!

I photographed the lovely Nora on a lucky sunny day in April after canceling the day before due to torrential rains. Yet another reminder that the month of April is indeed full of showers. Thank you S Family for a fun session!

I photographed Aven and family for the first time one week shy of exactly one year ago. It was great seeing the transformation from little baby to little girl (toddler?). She was on the move throughout the whole session, but slowed down just enough to “smell the flowers,” or more like pull petals off of flowers, in her family’s beautiful garden. Luckily, there was such an abundance of beautiful flowers that I don’t think the petal pulling will be discernible. I hope.

After multiple cancellations due to weather over the last few weeks, I was hoping I wouldn’t have to postpone yet another session on Saturday. The clouds looked threatening at times, but finally the appointed hour arrived and all was dry so we were able to proceed with the plan: to take a a stroll around the block with baby Samantha and family for some memorable outdoor pics. Said neighborhood was near Logan Circle, just a few block from where I used to live, with its multicolored brick walls, alleyways, and iron gates, providing a rich and textured backdrop for the images. Thankfully Samantha did not seem the slightest bit bothered by the chill in the air. She was all smiles, happy to be out and about. I was especially excited about working with the W family, not only because they live in my old hood but because their session was a gift from some dear friends. I know there will be other folks out there who will be almost as excited to see these pictures as Samantha’s parents. Enjoy!

What can I say? Is she cute or is she cute? Baby M was so easy going that we managed 3 or 4 outfit changes, lots of smiles and barely any fuss. And at the end, she declared us done by laying down on the couch and promptly falling asleep before I could even pack up my camera bag.

I had the pleasure of photographing the lovely H Family last Friday and also of being introduced to a fabulous new location for outdoor sessions. The Franciscan Monastery is probably familiar to anyone who lives in the Brookland neighborhood of Washington, DC, but unknown to those of us who live elsewhere in the city (at least to me). It was a truly beautiful area with lot of different areas including gardens, pavilions, and walkways, that provided a picturesque backdrop for all the images. In a city as small as D.C., it’s nice to still be able to discover some new nooks and crannies.
I haven’t had many opportunities to work with three kids at the same time, and it definitely kept me on my toes. But big sis Faith did an awesome job helping keep her younger siblings Charlie and Rosemary focused and happy. I could use an assistant like her for every photo session!

Thankfully Andrew arrived just as the snow was starting melt. The weather interfered two times before I was finally able to meet with mom before his birth. He was super alert, but calm for the first half of our session and then slept peacefully the rest of the time make the whole shoot a breeze. The only trouble was that he really did not want to curl up and insisted on kicking his left leg straight out every time I tried to tuck it in. I did manage to snap a few photos in between kicks. Thanks L family!

The last time I saw Gabriel, he was probably no more than 4 months old. His mom Sara and I met at the Breast Feeding Center when our sons were infants. Now, more than two years later, it was nice to get reacquainted and also, to meet little sister Sofia. Like many second children that I’ve photographed, she was super mellow and even tolerated some chilly weather so we could get some nice outside images.
