Took these photos on the sly a while back when we were away on vacation with our dear friends Dan and El as I surprise for El’s birthday. We’ve been through a lot of life’s milestones together: our husbands were college roomies and best men at each other’s weddings; and this sweet guy was born only one week before my own son. Both their boys are like brothers to my boy, all growing up together with frequent weekends together. El is one of the most generous and thoughtful people I know, so supportive of all my photographic endeavors, and it’s often difficult to think of good ways to reciprocate. But I am lucky I have my photography to fall back on when I’m at a loss for other gift ideas. So I finally showed her the images and she picked her favorite, the top one here, to be printed as a large gallery wrap. It just arrived from the lab and it looks amazing (if I do say so myself). It helps that the subject matter is such a handsome boy with gorgeous eyes. 😉 I can not wait to give it to her!
