The Care for Kid’s Fundraiser is up and running and this is my fourth year participating in this feel-good shopathon! As a local resident and Washington DC photography business owner, I have always tried to support local initiatives and service opportunities. However, this fundraiser in particular has touched my family – and my heart – in a big way.
As some of you know, my son Sasha was born in 2008. It was an incredibly joyful time for me and my husband, but a health scare also made it a trying moment in the history of our family. During the first six months of Sasha’s life, he had a medical concern that brought us to the Children’s National Medical Center for numerous treatments.
Thankfully, Sasha returned to full health shortly thereafter and our family experienced truly exceptional care and medical treatment at the Children’s National Medical Center. For that reason, my gratitude for this hospital runs deep and I am eager to support them in raising the funds to keep up their life-changing work. So, here’s what you need to know:
The Children’s National Medical Center Fundraiser
The Care for Kids Card:
The fundraiser relies upon the sales of coupon cards, which permit cardholders to enjoy 20% off at over 200 local restaurants and retailers (including Washington DC photography sessions with yours truly). This discount is good during the Care for Kids Shopping Week, which runs from October 17-26. Use the card as often as you like during the 10-day shopping period and enjoy the peace of mind knowing that 100% of the proceeds go to the Children’s National Medical Center. Cards are on sale now and are available for $50.
Businesses throughout the DC, Maryland, and Virginia areas are joining together to make this fundraiser a success. To check out all the places you can shop & dine using your Care for Kids card and for more information about the program, click here or call 202-368-7165.
How I’m participating:
Not only am I selling the Care for Kids Card, I am also offering 20% off all photo sessions purchased during the Care for Kids Shopping Week. All current clients who have previously placed orders may use the Care for Kids Card to receive 20% off re-orders of any prints or products (including holiday cards and gift albums) during the week as well.
If you’re interested in purchasing a Care for Kids Card, you can contact me directly, order your card online, or stop by the Children’s Hospital. Or, if you want to do even more to help the cause, spread the word among family and friends – after all, holiday season is quickly approaching and I’m sure that all santa’s helpers would enjoy 20% off!
