If at first you don’t succeed, try a couple more times. At least, that was our motto when trying to rally the troops of the Magder family for their photos session. The Magders had won a session with me in the spring 2014 at the Jewish Primary Day School auction. As it happens though, an unprecedented string of bad luck kept us from getting together sooner.

Our session was originally scheduled for fall of 2014, but due to bad weather, we had to cancel. Then we cancelled and rescheduled two more times and even postponed indefinitely while the family was in the midst of moving and extensive summer travels. Finding time to get together was a challenge to say the least!

At last, we got a date on the calendar and were able to have an easy going session that captured the playfulness of the children, Reuven and Ayelet. Luckily for us, this time the weather was beautiful and we were able to hold the session in backyard of their lovely new home. Everyone got into the fun of the session very quickly, despite being a Sunday evening after a busy day and weekend.

The kids did an excellent job sticking it out until we had the shots we needed and they should be proud, because they turned out great! You can clearly see the joy and love on the faces of every family member in each of the images. The kids were swinging, climbing trees, making silly noises, and telling bad jokes – which all served to make the session relaxed and fun and came across beautifully on film. Wouldn’t you say? My particular favorite is of the two children as they sit together on the sidewalk. It’s clear to see the brotherly love and affection on Reuven’s face and the comfortable relaxed vibe from Ayelet.

Dan and Maia’s photo together, as well as the image with the entire family epitomizes the energy, enthusiasm, and love shining through each of the images from this session. I couldn’t be happier with how they turned out, and I hope they’re as thrilled as I am.
